People Magazine

At the New York City Wine & Food Festival‘s annual Burger Bash, Fieri’s mac ‘n’ cheese bacon burger won the People’s Choice award in a first-time tie with the reigning champ, Burger & Barrel’s Josh Capon. (Capon has taken home the prize the last three years so this was no small feat—or meat. You should have seen some of those towering burgers!)

Mac ‘n’ cheese burgers have been popping on menus a lot in recent months, so what made Fieri’s version stand out in the crowd? “It’s all about great flavor and texture,” said Fieri, who sandwiched an all-beef patty, applewood smoked bacon, mac ‘n’ cheese and his famous Donkey Sauce between a toasted brioche roll slathered with garlic butter. ”It has 22 ingredients and six different cheeses for a really well-rounded, well-developed flavor,” he said. “I mean, we’re talking about a burger that is totally out of bounds.”

And host Rachael Ray agreed: “This burger just screams Guy. It’s big and bold and full of love—just like him.”

The Village Voice

Guy Fieri greeted each attendee at the door during his Rock of Ages Party on Saturday night, nearly a year after that same door swung open on Flavor Town, welcoming in tourists, locals, and, eventually, unsympathetic reviewers. By the time Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update got through lampooning the star chef back then, his image had taken a serious hit. Yet here was Fieri one year later playing it up for a packed house. He played host. He played bartender. He ran the show. Oh, and he also tied for first place for the Burger Bash’s People’s Choice award. The guy’s in-your-face personality may not win over everyone, but like the Journey song blasting in the night, his popularity just seems to go on and on and on and on.
